This week the Older All Days have begun working on their art auction project. A BIG thank you to David (Amos’ Dad) and Sally (Michael’s Mom) for volunteering and helping the children create their final products. In addition to the auction project, the children created collages with glitter glue, foam shapes, yarn, pom poms, spangles, and googly eyes. The OADs were also busy painting at the easel with blue and yellow paint – they created snow thunder storms, machines, and even moms and dads. Check your child’s cubby to take home their special creations! In the block area, we added large red blocks – this inspired children to create parking garages and incorporate people toys and loose parts into their creations.
Outside:
What a whirlwind of weather we have seen this week! We started the beginning of the week enjoying the sunshine by holding our afternoon meetings outside, scooping/pouring sand in the sandbox, and exploring the monkey bars. As the weather became slightly cooler – the children raked old leaves found in the Garden Yard. In a chocking turn of events, the OADs broke out their snow gear (hopefully for the last time this year!)to shovel snow off the sidewalks, noticed the glittery snow from the sunshine, and observed how quickly the snow began to melt.
Reminders:
-As the weather gets warmer:
~Check your child’s clothing in their cubbies daily. Please make sure they have weather-appropriate changes of clothes (i.e., shorts, t-shirts, baseball hats, rain coats/boots etc.)
~Apply sunscreen on warmer days before or upon arrival to school in the morning.
~Please provide sunscreen unless you are okay with your child using the school’s sunscreen.
-The children were very excited to see some of their grown-ups in our class during play time. Please let us know if you would like to spend time in our class playing, reading a book, or singing a song with us.
