From the Director: Choosing the Right School
By Sarah O’Dell and Nicole Shadduck, Executive and Education Directors
During the winter and spring months in Boise, families are asked to make decisions about next year’s school placement. Over the years, TCS has put a process into place to support families in selecting the best program for your child and family. We hope that you will participate in all or some of the steps listed to be assured that TCS is the best fit for your child and family. If your needs are changing or your child is too old to join us next year, we want to help with your transition, too. Later in the year, we will host a Transition from TCS Parent Night for those who are leaving The Children’s School.
Here are some things you can do to be well informed during this time of year!
*Come to the Open House on Thursday, January 23rd from 6:00-8:00. This is the best time to have conversations with a variety of teachers because they are not actively teaching.
*Schedule a parent-teacher conference in January or February and discuss next year’s options with your child’s teacher.
*Talk with Nicole to determine a time to observe a class that you are considering for your child next year.
*Read the information packet regarding re-enrollment that will be available to you at the Open House or in your school mailbox on Friday, January 24th. This packet includes an enrollment calendar, tuition and fee schedule and description of class offerings. All families must return the Intention Form by February 7th.
*Inform Sarah or Nicole if you need help in navigating this process. We can help you or point you to resources to help you make the best school decision for your child.
We do hope to see most of you back for the 2020-2021 school year. Remember when talking to your children, it is a ‘grown up’ decision and a long time from now (especially for the children).
Thank you for letting us be a part of your child’s early years!
