Parent-Toddlers December 3-11, 2018

Hello Parents,

Rebecca and I truly enjoy our time with the toddlers! We definitely feel connected with each child and value the quality one-on-one time we get with such a small class.

Inside the classroom, the children really enjoy making play dough “food.” The rolling, cutting, squeezing, and manipulation of the dough strengthens hand muscles and helps develop fine motor skills.  The children have enjoyed the new magnet toys that P-TCS generously donated to our classroom. The hair salon in the dramatic play area has  been exciting for the children as they brush, comb, and figure out how to open and close the hair clips. This week, the sensory table was filled with shredded paper and construction vehicles.

Snack time brings opportunities for language development as children ask for what they need, and listen to what others need. Fine motor skills are practiced in scooping, using tongs, pouring, and passing. The children often notice the alphabet and number pictures on the wall, which provides opportunities for counting, color recognition, letter recognition, language development, and phonological awareness.

Outside, the children are developing gross motor skills as they climb, run, jump, push, and pedal. They enjoy riding the trikes and using the shovels for the snow and sand. The climber in the Side Yard allows the children to practice going down the slide in new ways–back, tummy, backwards, knees.

Thank you for sharing your precious children with us. We have made it a goal to update the blog every 2 weeks, so stay tuned.

Sincerely,

Rebecca and Kim
