Parent Toddler March 25- April 2, 2019

Hello Families,

We are having so much fun with the toddlers! They love to see what is new in our classroom and want to try everything! The children immediately noticed our new kitchen, play food, and shopping cart. They love gathering food in baskets and serving each other. They also enjoy reading books, taking care of the babies, and of course, PLAY DOUGH! We have made so many fun play dough creations–from pizzas to snowmen! It is definitely not school for the toddlers unless play dough is available.

Inside time is also spent building with the train tracks, using the stamp pads, painting at the easel, putting puzzles together, and exploring what is new in the sensory table. Last week we had water and water toys in the sensory table. This week we put Easter grass in the table, hid magnetic balls inside, and provided the children with magnetic wands to see what they could catch.

The children have spent so much time  making play dough “pizza,” that we decided to make real pizza and have it for snack. The children were experts at using the rolling pins to roll out the dough. They helped scoop and spread the pizza sauce, sprinkle the cheese, and carry the pizzas to the oven. We kept track of how many minutes it took the pizzas to cook–17 minutes. We then sliced the pizzas into triangles and tasted our pizza. It was delicious! We brought a piece to Nicole and sliced up the extras so that our grown-ups could have a taste.

Outside time is spent riding in the wagon, going down the slide, playing in the sand pit, riding the trikes, and running! We have also started looking for insects and worms under the bug mat in the Side Yard.

Happy Home Days!
