The Children’s School thrives as a vibrant community, dedicated to the whole and healthy development of children and families, and as a progressive educational model. This success is made possible by the collaborative efforts of its Board of Directors, teachers, Executive Director, and parent group. Each plays a distinct yet interconnected role in ensuring the school’s mission and vision are realized.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is composed of dedicated community volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds. Their expertise includes finance, law, small business operation, school administration, public and private education and marketing. These individuals work behind the scenes to create a strong foundation for the school, ensuring it remains a thriving educational institution for years to come. Members are often former parents of TCS, but not always. Their primary responsibilities include:
Policy Determination: Setting the overarching policies that guide the school’s operations and values.
Fiscal Oversight: Ensuring the financial health of the school by reviewing budgets and making sound fiscal decisions.
Strategic Planning: Shaping the long-term direction of the school to maintain its growth and sustainability.
Teachers
At the heart of The Children’s School are its teachers. The teachers’ expertise creates a classroom community where each child is valued and able to share their ideas and personality through play, projects and interactions. These skilled and educated professionals are responsible for:
Creating Enriching Classroom Experiences: Designing engaging and meaningful learning activities tailored to each child’s needs.
Supporting Growth and Development: Fostering both intellectual and social-emotional development of every student.
Executive Director with administrative support
The Executive Director serves as the cornerstone of daily school operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly. This role ensures that the strategic vision set by the Board is implemented effectively and that teachers are empowered to create a dynamic classroom, children have rich experiences, and families are supported as their child’s primary caregiver. Their key responsibilities include:
School Management: Overseeing the school’s overall functioning and adherence to its mission.
Personnel Administration: Managing staff recruitment, retention, and professional development.
Day-to-Day Operations: Handling the logistics that keep the school running efficiently, from scheduling to communications.
Parents for The Children’s School
The parent group plays a vital role in enhancing the school’s community and resources. Through their efforts, the parent group fosters a sense of collaboration and shared purpose, enriching the school community. Their contributions focus on:
Fundraising: Organizing events and initiatives to support tuition assistance programs, teacher development, and parent education.
Community Building: Creating opportunities for families to connect and engage with the school’s mission.
A Shared Purpose
Each of these roles is essential to The Children’s School’s success. Together, these dedicated individuals- teachers, parents, board members and administrators enhance human development by supporting children, during their childhood years, as they experience themselves as capable learners. This team works together to provide a developmentally and educationally sound program for children for today and many years to come.
