Admission FAQ
What are the age requirements?
Children can enter The Children's School at two years old in one of two part time classes:
- The Parent-Toddler class for children born March through August (meets Mondays).
- The 2-3s class for children born September through February (meets two mornings per week).
Children needing the full-day preschool program must be three years old by September 1. Children needing our full-day Primes class must be five years old by September 1.
Is there someone available to talk with me about my child and potential placements?
Yes, please call the school, 343-6840.
Is there a fee for applying to the school? If I don't get in, do I get it back?
There is a non-refundable application fee. We keep your child on an age-appropriate waiting list for potential enrollment from the time of application through second grade.
What if I am offered an opportunity to enroll and cannot take it at that time, but want to be considered for future enrollment?
Each family on the waiting list is given two opportunities to accept an opening in the school when it is offered. Upon the second refusal by the family, the child's name remains on the waiting list, but is placed at the bottom of the list. Families who are offered an opening in the school but do not respond to the offer remain on the waiting list but go to the bottom of the list.
How does the school make enrollment decisions?
Enrollment priority is given to present families (current students first, then siblings), then alumni families, and finally, new families, according to their original date of application.
Can I request to get something in the mail about applying to The Children's School and enrolling my child?
Yes, please call the school, 343-6840.
